EUMETSAT employs approximately 500 people who are engaged in currently approved programmes and planning of follow-on activities. These are made up of the core activities of programme development and routine operations and also include preparatory activities for future programmes and administrative support for core activities. The overall human resources requirements fluctuate in number and skill profiles during programme preparation and implementation phases to reflect the volume of activities, the procurement approach and technical changes.

EUMETSAT employs people in the following disciplines:

Meteorology, Science, Engineering Management, Software & Data Processing Engineering, System Engineering, Ground Station & Telecommunication Engineering, Spacecraft & Flight Dynamics Engineering, Secretarial/Administrative, Facilities, Information & Communication, Personnel, Finance, Legal & Contracts, Management Support, QA and Configuration Control, Project Control.

The academic background of EUMETSAT Staff is equally diverse. Many Staff have degrees in Engineering and Science subjects, e.g.:

Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Geography, Mathematics, Meteorology, Natural Science, Physics, Space Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering,
