At the headquarters in Darmstadt, Staff members are a multi-national force drawn from each of the member communities, with English and French as the official languages and German used in many areas as a local working language.

EUMETSAT employees are business professionals in their respective areas, with the services of regular Staff complemented as and when necessary by consultants. The working fields represented are very diverse, including satellite operations, engineering, meteorology and data processing as well as administration, law and finance.A forward-looking performance management system is in place which enables clear goals and targets to be established against which to assess performance and individual training and development needs.
