Monitoring weather and climate from space

Products and Imagery

Image data from the Meteosat and Metop satellites are stored consecutively when image data is received.

In the case of the Meteosat First Generation satellites, full disc images are obtained every 30 minutes, from 3 different spectral channels. Meteosat Second Generation images of the full disc, from 12 spectral channels, are received every 15 minutes. The Metop satellites generates a comprehensive array of imagery (and associated products). Due to the duration of each orbit (~100 min), approximately 15 products are received by the Data Centre each day.

Image data can be supplied for any, or all, of the spectral channels - for the full earth disc or smaller geographical areas. Image data may be requested as rectified or raw (i.e. not rectified) in a variety of digital formats. Raw data are provided with all the ancillary data needed to perform rectification if required.

Both meteorological products and images are generated from Meteosat and Metop data at regular intervals, and contain derived geophysical data. To view our product lists, see [Internal link]Data & Products, or filter products by 'EUMETSAT Data Centre' in the [External link]Product Navigator.
