Monitoring weather and climate from space

Data and Products

EUMETSAT provides an evolving range of meteorological and climate monitoring data and products that reflect the needs of the user community. Operational meteorological and climate monitoring services remain priorities, with development of new environmental services covering the oceans, atmosphere, land and biosphere, as well as natural disasters — where they interact with, or are driven by, meteorology and climate.

Information about our data and products
Product Navigator
The Product Navigator contains detailed information on more than 400 environmental products generated by EUMETSAT and third party providers.
Level 1 Data
Level 1 data from the Meteosat, Metop and NOAA satellites are the building blocks for lower-level processed products generated within the EUMETSAT Application Ground Segment. They provide invaluable input to Nowcasting applications and Numerical Weather Prediction.
Atmosphere
Information on the composition of the atmosphere, derived from our satellite measurements, plays a vital role in assessing environmental risks such as ozone depletion in the stratosphere and the build-up of pollutants in the atmosphere.
Marine
Key products for ocean monitoring are sea levels measured by altimetry instruments; sea surface temperature derived from image data, and detection of changes in sea-ice cover.
Land
Products of considerable benefit to agriculture, forestry, surface transport management and the monitoring of ecological and hydrological systems.
Climate
Satellite climate monitoring offers the advantage of a far greater spatial coverage of the Earth than from discrete points at the surface. Our climate data products are available either as time-series data or specialised products.
Formats
EUMETSAT and third party provider product data are presented in a number of file formats. This section provides guidance on common product file formats and their uses.
Software Products
EUMETSAT provides a range of software enabling its users to extract information and derive their own products from Meteosat and Metop satellite data.
Calibration
Methods and results from Meteosat and Metop instrument spectral channel calibration, along with inter-calibration information for different satellite instruments.
Training
Training people how to interpret and use our satellite data is an integral part of the work of EUMETSAT.
Meteosat Data Collection Services
The Meteosat Data Collection Service enables Data Collection Platform (DCP) Operators to use the Meteosat system to retransmit those DCP data collected from their DCP platforms, to themselves and other users, using data distribution systems like the Global Telecommunication System (GTS), EUMETCast and the internet.
Third Party Products
EUMETSAT relays to users satellite data and products from several partner organisations such as NOAA, NASA, CMA, INPE and VITO.
Resources
A collection of product-related documents and manuals for our users — including validation reports; product guides and factsheets; format guides, and technical specifications.
