EUMETSAT attends CEOS SIT-25 in Tokyo
The EUMETSAT Director-General, Dr. Lars Prahm, will attend the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites (CEOS) Strategic Implementation Team (SIT-25) meeting in Tokyo on 13-14 April 2010.

Established in 1984,
CEOS aims to enhance international coordination and data exchange in order to optimise benefits to society. Some 28 space agencies, along with 20 other national and international organisations, including EUMETSAT, participate in CEOS planning and activities.
Topics under discussion during SIT-25 will focus specifically on forest carbon tracking and greenhouse gas observations, data democracy and coordination of observations in support of climate change applications. Regarding the latter, CEOS is considering setting up a dedicated advisory group to support the climate monitoring initiatives of CEOS members.
At the meeting in Tokyo, the committee will also discuss space agency deliverables related to key events in 2010, including the Group on Earth Observations Plenary and Ministerial, United Nations Convention on Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP-16), and the Convention on Biological Diversity COP-10 and G8/G20 meetings.
