Joint Research Announcement for OSTST participationEUMETSAT and the Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), the French space agency, have published a Joint Research Announcement calling for research proposals within the framework of the Jason-2/Ocean Surface Topography Mission (J-2/OSTM).The announcement is the European counterpart of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Research Announcement to reselect and reconvene the joint National Atmospheric and Oceanic Administration (NOAA)/NASA/EUMETSAT/CNES Ocean Surface Topography Science Team (OSTST). The EUMETSAT/CNES announcement calls for European proposals for OSTST participation. International teams whose investigators are neither from the United States nor Europe can submit their proposal to either or both announcements. The re-established OSTST will again support basic research and investigations associated with J-2/OSTM as well as other satellite altimetry missions, including TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1 and the upcoming Jason-3 mission. All European proposals should be sent to CNES. A joint selection will be coordinated by EUMETSAT, CNES and the US partners in mid-2012. Due to a slight delay in the release of the EUMETSAT/CNES announcement, the deadline to submit proposals has been extended to 15 April 2012. Related Links:
