Estonia joins EUMETSAT community of nations

In a ceremony held at EUMETSAT this morning, Dr Lars Prahm, Director-General of EUMETSAT and the Estonian Minister for the Environment Mr Rein Randver signed an agreement which makes Estonia the third Baltic State to join EUMETSAT as Cooperating State. This agreement will enter into force on the date of its signature.

Croatia officially joins EUMETSAT Community of Member States

Today EUMETSAT was officially notified by the Depositary of the EUMETSAT Convention that the Croatian parliament has ratified the accession agreement that makes Croatia the 20th full Member of EUMETSAT’s community of states.

On the 15th October 2006, representatives of the nations of Africa and EUMETSAT signed the Maputo Declaration in support of the 'African GMES' initiative.

EUMETSAT confirms the correct injection of its new polar-orbiting MetOp-A satellite into its orbit, following the successful 1714th Soyuz launch.

A second Cooperating State, Croatia, follows in the tracks of Slovakia and joins EUMETSAT’s group of Member States, increasing their number to 20.

Mr. Jörg Hennerkes, State Secretary, met with EUMETSAT’s Director General, Dr. Lars Prahm, on the occasion of his first official visit to Europe’s Weather Satellite Organisation.

The Republic of Slovakia has become a full member of the EUMETSAT states community.
