Changes to the EUMETSAT website structure

You may have noticed several changes on the EUMETSAT website. All site content located in the former What We Do, Access to Data and Documentation sections has been redistributed across four new sections.

These are named:

[Internal link]Service Status,
[Internal link]Data & Products,
[Internal link]Data Access, and
[Internal link]Satellites.

The About EUMETSAT, Image Gallery and News sections remain unchanged.

Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

Overview of Changes

[Internal link]Service Status

The Service Status page is centralised dashboard for our users where dynamic content is displayed, including:

  • Service Status Indicator (as seen on the homepage)
  • Alerts or information
  • Service News Alerts (recent UNS messages)
  • Latest Operational News
  • Operational Schedules
  • Product Update History
  • Central Operations Reports
  • Updated satellite information (such as orbital parameters, gain settings, fuel and inclination trends)

[Internal link]Data & Products

The new site structure places greater emphasis on our products and how to use them.

The products from the EUMETSAT Application Ground Segment, the Central Application Facility (CAF) and the Satellite Application Facilities (SAFs), may now be found in this section, listed by category ([Internal link]Satellite Data, [Internal link]Atmosphere, [Internal link]Marine, [Internal link]Land, [Internal link]Climate and [Internal link]Software). The product lists contain links to corresponding Product Navigator entries where further information associated with the product can be found.

Training is an important part of getting the most out of the products EUMETSAT supplies, hence the inclusion of the renamed [Internal link]How to Use Our Products pages.

[Internal link]Data Access

This area focuses on how the user can access our data, with a prime focus on distribution mechanisms.  It includes sections covering registration with the [Internal link]Earth Observation Portal and delivery mechanisms like [Internal link]EUMETCast and the [Internal link]EUMETSAT Data Centre. Much of the content from the former Access to Data area can now be found here.

[Internal link]Satellites

The pages describing each Satellite programme have undergone a review and now follow the same basic structure. For example, the Metop pages:

[Internal link]Mission Overview
[Internal link]Instruments
[Internal link]Services
[Internal link]Resources

Furthermore, content describing the network of on-ground data processing systems, e.g., the [Internal link]SAFs architecture, the network of AHRPT stations which contribute to the EUMETSAT Advanced Retransmission System (EARS) and the Data Collection and Retransmission service are now housed in the [Internal link]Ground Network section.
