NOAA-19 to replace NOAA-18 for North Atlantic and Regional Sea Surface Temperature (NAR SST) product

On 1 December 2009 NOAA-19 will replace NOAA-18 for processing the operational North Atlantic and Regional Sea Surface Temperature (NAR SST) product.

The NAR SST product is currently available via the following formats and dissemination types:

  • NetCDF format on the IFREMER FTP server (in near-real time and offline)
  • The GRIB ed.2 format through EUMETCAST (in near-real time)
  • UMARF (offline)


Reference times will be 0300 and 1300 UTC. 

Reference files on the IFREMER FTP server will be named:

  1. YYYYMMDD-EUR-L3P_GHRSST-SSTsubskin-NAR_AVHRR_NOAA_19-eumetsat_sstnar_noaa19_YYYYMMDD_030000-v01.7-fv01.0.nc.bz2
  2. YYYYMMDD-EUR-L3P_GHRSST-SSTsubskin-NAR_AVHRR_NOAA_19-eumetsat_sstnar_noaa19_YYYYMMDD_130000-v01.7-fv01.0.nc.bz2


EUMETCast reference files will be named:

  1. S-OSI_-FRA_-NOAA-NARSST_FIELD-YYYYMMDD0300Z.grb.gz
  2. S-OSI_-FRA_-NOAA-NARSST_FIELD-YYYYMMDD1300Z.grb.gz


The first file is scheduled to be delivered at 1300 UTC. The corresponding Validation Report and Product User manual will be available on the OSI SAF Web Site in due course.
