European Commission and EUMETSAT forge stronger ties on Environment
Today EUMETSAT and the European Commission have agreed on their cooperative roles and responsibilities in relation to Earth Observation and the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES).

MSG-2 captures first image
The capturing of MSG-2’s first image of the Earth is a major step in a series of complex operations undertaken since the successful launch on 21 December 2005. Once operational, MSG-2, the second in the new generation of sophisticated weather satellites, will secure the high availability and reliability of the Meteosat Second Generation System.

EUMETSAT starts commissioning of the MSG-2 satellite
Today, EUMETSAT will take over control of the second of the new generation of weather satellites, Meteosat Second Generation (MSG-2) from the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) and immediately start commissioning operations.
