IASI Thinned BUFR 366 Service on EUMETCast

We are pleased to announce the commencement of our IASI thinned bufr 366 service on EUMETCast-Europe on 09 August 2011.

The main objective of the [Internal link]Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer (IASI) is to provide high resolution atmospheric emission spectra to derive temperature and humidity profiles with high spectral and vertical resolution and accuracy. Additionally, it is used for the determination of trace gases such as ozone, nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and methane, as well as land and sea surface temperature, emissivity and cloud properties. The [External link]thinned IASI L1c product contains infra-red radiance spectra at 0.5cm-1 resolution. The EUMETCast product has for each sounder pixel 8461 spectral samples covering the range between 645.0 cm-1 and 2760 cm-1. The thinned product has a selection of 366 channels.

The product will be available on EUMETCast-Europe on the channel EPS-11.

The file size for products will be 2.5 MB, and users can expect to receive 480 files per day at approximately 3 minute intervals.

Users must register for the Reduced IASI L1c BUFR data on the [External link]EO Portal.
