The AVISO products will have the new NetCDF CF – 1.4 format (Climate and Forecast), making the use of these products easier. For information on this new format please visit the website on CF Meta Data.

The scientific content of the products will not be impacted by this change.

In the NRT processing chain, a maximum of 21 days of data will still be processed and delivered, but products in the new format CF will be packaged daily (i.e. a single file will contain 24 hours data while an old format file contained 21 days data). Users will receive 21 times more data but the files will be smaller so globally there will be no impact in terms of total size, only in terms of number of files disseminated.

The file names will retain the same format.

Delayed time products will have the new format, but they will retain the same dissemination strategy, namely data will be delivered every 3 months.
