New EARS-IASI service on EUMETCast

A new EARS-IASI retransmission service is to be added to EUMETCast, starting 26 April 2012.

The new service collects IASI instrument data from Metop satellite-passes via a network of HRPT stations and retransmits Level 1c products via EUMETCast. The Level 1 products contain both a subset of channels and 300 Principal Component Scores.

The initial subset of HRPT stations supporting the EARS-IASI service is Athens, Lannion, Maspalomas, Svalbard and Kangerlussuaq.

The EARS-IASI data will be disseminated on EUMETCast Europe:

Channel: EUMETSAT Data Channel 1
PID: 500
Multicast address: 224.223.222.1

File naming structure is: <Instrument>_<SensingStartDate>_<SensingStartTime>_<satellite>_<orbit>_<service>_<TypeOfProcessing>_<ProductContents>_<AcquisitionStation>_<ProductLevel>_<ProductFormat>

Example file name: iasi_20110830_092026_metopa_25227_ear_o_pcs_lan.l1_bufr

Please note that the EARS-IASI demonstrational service currently being provided from the Lannion station shall be stopped two days prior to the start of the operational service, i.e. on 24 April 2012.

To receive the EARS-IASI data, users should register via the [Internal link]EO Portal.
