These changes will be effective as of 19 July 2012.

On the same date, a new drought product will be introduced on EUMETCast: DP17 - Rainfall decile (monthly). This product covers Southern Africa.

Deciles provide a measure of the spread of rainfall experienced in the past. Rainfall in the current year can be compared against decile information to see where it stands in relation to historical records. The monthly rainfall deciles are calculated by ranking the totals in ascending order, and then splitting the data into 10 equally sized groups.
