New demonstration NetCDF product formats are now available for validation and user feedback

New NetCDF product formats now available for validation. As part of an ongoing enhancement measure to improve user access to data, NetCDF demonstration products have been generated (version 4 using the classical data model) for the following additional Metop product types:
  • AVHRR Level 1B — Metop
  • AVHRR Level 2 — Metop (Polar winds)
  • IASI Level 1C — Metop


Test data are available on the GSICS Validation System ([External link]http://vgsics.eumetsat.int) under the directory 'Data Centre netCDF Demonstration products'. The products can be accessed and downloaded via Opendap or http.

We are now encouraging users to send us feedback on these validation products — e.g. assessing usability, standardisation, metadata aspects, etc. to improve overall product quality.

We expect to make the validated NetCDF products available from the Data Centre ordering service late 2012/early 2013.

The following pre-validated products are foreseen to be made available via the GSICS server by the end of 2012:

  • IASI Level 2 — Metop (IASI Combined Sounding Products)
  • HIRS Level 1 — Metop
  • SEVIRI Level 1.5 Image data — MSG
  • HRI Level 1.5 Image data — MFG
