There are currently eight SAFs all of which are providing products and services on an operational basis. Each SAF is led by the National Meteorological Service (NMS) of a EUMETSAT Member State, in association with a consortium of EUMETSAT Member States and Cooperating States, government bodies and research institutes. The lead NMS is responsible for the management of each complete SAF project. The research, data and services provided by the SAFs complement the standard meteorological products delivered by EUMETSAT's central facilities in Darmstadt, Germany.

SAF on Support to Nowcasting and Very Short Range Forecasting (NWC SAF) Nowcasting is a weather forecast for the next few hours, based on current information.	SAF on Ocean and Sea Ice (OSI SAF) The OSI SAF provides comprehensive information on the ocean-atmosphere interface — requirements of both meteorology and oceanography.
SAF on Climate Monitoring (CM SAF) The CM SAF generates and archives high quality climate data sets on a continuous basis.	SAF on Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP SAF) The NWP SAF aims to improve and support the interface between satellite data/products and European activities in NWP.
SAF on Land Surface Analysis (LSA SAF) The LSA SAF develops techniques to retrieve products related with land, land-atmosphere interactions, and biospheric applications.	SAF on Ozone & Atmospheric Chemistry Monitoring (O3M SAF) The O3M SAF processes data on ozone, other trace gases, aerosols and ultraviolet data, obtained from satellite instrumentation.
SAF on Radio-Occultation Meteorology (ROM SAF) The ROM SAF generates and archives high-quality GPS Radio Occultation (RO) datasets for Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) applications and specific climate application areas.	SAF on Support to Operational Hydrology and Water Management (H-SAF) The H-SAF generates and archives high-quality data sets and products for operational hydrological applications.
