New in EUMDAC 2.0.1

  • Faster searches and downloads
  • Bug fixes and improved CLI output
  • Added support for the xrit_segments customisation parameter in the CLI
  • Added support for searching by publication time in the CLI

Faster searches and downloads

We have removed the collection validation that eumdac was doing before searching or downloading products.

The CLI will still make the check if something goes wrong, while the library now has a new, faster method for performing this check explicitly.

Bug fixes and improved CLI output

  • Downloading into directories inside Network File System mounts will no longer result in an Invalid cross-device link error.
  • Downloads that search for more than 10, 000 products will no longer fail.
  • The output from the CLI has been improved, especially messages explaining issues or errors.

Added support for the xrit_segments customisation parameter in the CLI

The extraction of segments for the MSG 1.5 SEVIRI products in HRIT format can now be used by providing the xrit_segments parameter in customisation chains.

Added support for searching by publication date in the CLI

Before eumdac 2.0.1 it was only possible to search products by sensing time by using the --start and --end parameters. Now, products can be located based on their publication time using the new --publication-before and --publication-after search parameters.

About EUMDAC

The EUMETSAT Data Access API Client (EUMDAC) simplifies the way users can discover, search, download, and customise data contained in the data store. Instead of writing lengthy code to download a particular product type for a specific time range, the user can do this with one or a few simple commands, invoking the client.

Two types of data access client are available:

  • Python library — comes packed with methods and tips for using EUMETSAT's APIs and services. Just 'import eumdac' and begin coding.
  • Command-line executable — allows users with little or no programming background to access the Data Store and Data Tailor from a command line, allowing the automation/scripting of jobs. Downloadable prebuild binaries ensure that users can use the client without any installation.

How to get it

The client is already available in the EUMETLab public repository, on PyPI and Conda.

Information on installation, usage and training material, including updated Jupyter Notebooks, can be found in the EUMDAC knowledge base.
