GIIRS (Geostationary Interferometric Infrared Sounder) on board CMA’s FY-4B geostationary satellite, positioned at 133° East, is a MWIR/TIR interferometer with two bands at LWIR: 680~1130cm-1, MWIR: 1650~2250cm-1, at a spectral resolution of 0.8cm-1 and a spatial resolution of 12km. In addition it contains a VIS imager for cloud detection with a spatial resolution of 1km.

The FY-4B GIIRS Level 1 data, in HDF-5 format, will be distributed on EUMETCast Terrestrial, channel T01-TPG-5 (multicast address: 232.223.222.33).
