The current Met Office ATD lightning system will become ‘non-operational’ after 1 October 2023.

The ATD data will, therefore, stopped being distributed on EUMETCast from 2 October.
They will be replaced with the new Met Office ‘LEELA’ lightning detection system data. The distribution of these new data via EUMETCast is being implemented. More information will be provided in due course.
In the meantime, LEELA lightning data are available to view on the Met Office Africa Web Viewer website. For questions related to this website, contact international@metoffice.gov.uk.
