Tropical Depression 05B formed off the west coast of the Malay Peninsula on 23 November before strengthing into a Tropical Cyclone.

Lehar strengthened into a tropical cyclone as it moved from the Andaman Sea over the Andaman Islands and is currently working its way into the Bay of Bengal and toward India.
According to the Joint Typhoon Warning Center current wind speeds are around 138km/h (86mph). The Indian media reports that areas of the Indian coast are on high alert.
