Metop-C AVHRR and ATOVS (MHS and AMSU-A) Level 1B data will be available on EUMETCast from 2 April.

The MHS L1B (MHS GDS Level 1B — Metop ) and AMSU-A L1B (AMSU-A GDS Level 1B — Metop ) data from Metop-C have been successfully validated and have operational quality. The Metop-C AVHRR L1B data (AVHRR GDS Level 1B — Metop), currently have pre-operational quality as the validation of cloud mask is still ongoing.

The Product Validation Report will be available soon.

The data will be distributed on EUMETCast Europe, High Volume Service Transponder 1 (HVS-1), using the following channels:

Note: When the Metop-C satellite is declared operational, some elements of the filenames will change, as follows:

  • AVHRR L1B: ‘_C_’ will become ‘_O_’.
  • MHS L1B and AMSU-A L1B: ‘EUMP’ will become ‘EUMR’ and ‘_t_’ will become ‘_o_’.

Users wishing to receive these new Metop-C data should register via our Earth Observation Portal (EOP).
