New AC SAF Metop-C GOME-2 products available soon

The products are:

NRT GOME-2 vertical ozone profiles
These vertical ozone profiles are retrieved on the GOME-2 40x80km footprint, and provide ozone concentrations from the surface to 0.001hPa in 40 layers. The NRT product sent via EUMETCast is provided in BUFR format and is limited in content. Users requiring more detail, such as Averaging Kernels and convariance matrices, should refer to the HDF5 format that is available on request in NRT or as an offline product from the AC SAF Archive.

Absorbing Aerosol Index from the PMDs
The Absorbing Aerosol Index (AAI) is an indicator for elevated aerosol in the atmosphere. The AAI responds to (desert) dust, biomass burning (forest fires) and volcano (ash) plumes. The product is provided in NRT and Offline in HDF5 format. These AAI values are from the PMD detectors on GOME-2.

Absorbing Aerosol Height
For the GOME-2 Main Science Channels, the Absorbing Aerosol Height is provided for locations where the AAI is above 4. The AAH uses the O2-A Band to retrieve an effective scattering height of thick aerosol plumes. The product is provided in NRT and Offline in HDF5 format.

The offline products (all in HDF5 format) will be made available via the AC SAF archive at http://www.acsaf.org/

All these products have operational status.

Users already subscribed to receive AC SAF data via EUMETCast will receive these new products automatically. Other users wishing to receive these products should register via our Earth Observation Portal (EOP).
