A new precipitation product, replacing the Meteosat 0° Multi-Sensor Precipitation Estimate (MPE) product, will be added to our web visualisation service, EUMETView, from 4 June.

29 May 2019
The new precipitation product is the H03B P-IN-SEVIRI (PR-OBS-3B) product from the H-SAF. It is derived from instantaneous precipitation maps generated by infrared (IR) images over full disk. The data are acquired from operational geostationary satellites ‘calibrated’ by precipitation measurements from microwave (MW) images in sun-synchronous orbits.
For more information on the product see the H SAF website.
The new product will be added to our web visualisation services, EUMETView* and Real-Time Images, on 4 June.
It replaces the visualised product Multi-Sensor Precipitation Estimate (MPE) MSG 0 Degree, which will be discontinued on 10 July.
The product Multi-Sensor Precipitation Estimate (MPE) MSG IODC 41.5 Degree will remain in place.
The H03B product has been available on EUMETCast since 14 February, see New precipitation products from H SAF on EUMETCast soon.
*EUMETView is our visualisation service that allows users to view EUMETSAT imagery in a more interactive way through an online map viewer or Web Map Service (WMS). It is currently a pilot service.
