The new OLCI L2 Marine Processing Baseline has the following format: OL__L2M.xxx.yy.zz
where
  • xxx: baseline collection.
  • yy: minor changes in IPF or in static ADF (starting from zero for a new baseline collection).
  • zz: changes in L0 or processing parametrization which are not expected to affect the quality of the products.

OLCI L1 Processing Baseline 2.76A/1.54B introduces processor changes that do not have immediate impact on OLCI Level-1B products. The changes will however allow improved detection and processing through instrument anomalies when they happen, and the processing of OLCI-A early mission data affected by a NAVATT time stamp anomaly. OLCI L2 Baseline Collection 3.01 includes two small processing changes to the major release of OLCI L2 Collection 3.00:
  • retrieval of the Total Suspended Matter product extended from 100 up to 400 g/m3;
  • reduced anomalous flagging of coastlines by the CLOUD_AMBIGUOUS flag in FR products.

Major update of OLCI Level-2 Ocean Colour processing. It constitutes OLCI L2 Collection-3, OL_L2M.003.00, delivering consistent OLCI-A and –B Ocean Colour products, and introducing algorithm improvements, including System Vicarious Calibration gains updated in OLCI-A and OLCI-B; revised Bright Pixel Correction, new Chlorophyll Index algorithm, and updated whitecap correction in the open water processing chain; new Neural Network v.2 in the complex water processing chain, and new and updated flags, with a new flag recommendation for users. Instrument anomalies

Anomalously low radiances have been identified in OLCI Level-1B products at the edges of bright, saturated areas. These low radiances occur in some bands and do not correspond to geophysical expectations. The anomalies are present over bright clouds in both OLCI-A and OLCI-B. However, no impact on OLCI operational Level-2 products has been determined because L2 products are not available over bright surfaces, see this detailed description of the anomaly.
