Fire Radiative Power (FRP) NRT
The Copernicus Sentinel-3 NRT FRP product identifies the location, and quantifies the radiative power, of any hotspot present on land and ocean Earth surfaces, that radiates a heating signal within a pixel size of 1 km2. All threatening hotspots are identified and characterised within three hours from SLSTR observation sensing time.
The product is produced by the OFRaP-CS3 (Optimized Fire Radiative Power for Copernicus Sentinel-3) processor. Since the release of the latest Collection 2 in December 2021, the NRT FRP product is available during both night and day-times. The FRP products for Africa are derived by geographically filtering for products over the African continent and islands as area of interest.
Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) NRT
The Copernicus Sentinel-3 NRT AOD product quantifies the abundance of aerosol particles, and monitors their global distribution and long-range transport, at the scale of 9.5 x 9.5 km2. All observations are made available in less than three hours from the SLSTR observation sensing time. It is only applicable during daytime.
The product is generated from the OSSAR-CS3 processor (Optimized Simultaneous Surface Aerosol Retrieval for Copernicus Sentinel-3). Since the release of the latest Collection 2 in October 2021, the overall product scientific maturity label is Preliminary operational. The AOD products for Africa are derived by geographically filtering for products over the African continent and islands as area of interest.
Note: The AOD product will replace the Sentinel-3 Synergie Level 2 product in STC from 8 June 2022.
