April is the best month to look at snow-covered Alps, because of a big contrast between the snow-free valleys with fresh vegetation and the snow-covered mountains.

The green valleys contrasting with the snow (coloured cyan) can be clearly seen on the Metop-B AVHRR RGB, 20 April 08:39 UTC. There are also some low level wave clouds (lenticularis clouds) over Austria and some dark patches in Piedmont in the Po Valley, where the farmers started to flood the rice fields.
