Fernand made landfall near Veracruz in Mexico, causing mudslides and flash flooding.

This depression rapidly developed between 24 and 26 August. On 24 August there were no signs of the depression off the coast. By 25 August many convective clusters of tropical depression Fernand could be seen. On 26 August there was a fully-fledged rotating cloud that disintegrated within 12 hours. Following the ensuing mudslides and flooding there were a number of reported deaths.
