The detection capability of fires in Himawari-8 AHI HRIT data will be improved on 28 April 2021.

The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) has provided a change to configuration of the HSD-to-HRIT format converter software that will improve the radiometric resolution of Himawari-8 AHI channel 3.9 XRIT data. EUMETSAT will implement this change to improve the detection capability of fire events on the AHI HRIT data provided through EUMETCast Europe and EUMETCast Terrestrial.
The change will take place on 28 April 2021.
