GOES-West GLM (Geostationary Lightning Mapper) products will be available on EUMETCast from 14 November.

Thursday, 31 October 2019

GOES-West (GOES-17) GLM products from NOAA are Level 2 products (flashes, groups, events) with a 20-second refresh rate, similarly to GOES-East (GOES-16) GLM products which are already available on EUMETCast.

They are accumulated to five minute compressed tar files, so there will be one file distributed every five minutes.

Product format is netCDF.

Information on the GLM data processing and GLM L2 products can be found in

NOAA’s GOES-R Series Product Definition and Users’ Guide.

The GOES-West GLM products will be distributed on EUMETCast Europe, High Volume Service Transponder 1 (HVS-1), on channel E1H-TPG-3 (PID: 600, Multicast address: 224.223.223.12).
