The NOAA Global Data Service is based on the ATMS, CrIS and VIIRS data acquired, processed and formatted by the NOAA/NPOESS Data Exploitation (NDE).
The data from the NOAA-20 and S-NPP satellites have a timeliness value and geographical coverage typical for global data. The data is distributed via EUMETCast to European users and via the GTS.
Global SNPP/NOAA-20 data are provided as Sensor Data Records (SDR) (L1) and Environmental Data Record (EDRs) (L2).
The Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) is a new Microwave Sounder combining the capabilities of AMSU-A and MHS in a single instrument.
The Cross-track Infrared Sounder (CrIS) is an IASI-type Infrared Sounder optimised for meteorological sounding of the atmosphere. The CrIS SDRs are additionally tailored by decoding the BUFR data, retaining only a subset of channels for GTS dissemination.
A selection of Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) level 2 products are made available.
Access to the data and products typically involves an initial registration process. For further information, please visit our Data Registration page, or register on the Earth Observation Portal (EOP).
