Heavy rain spread on the Bank Holiday in the United Kingdom
Date & Time
25 August 2014 06:00 UTC
Satellites
Meteosat-10
Channels/Products
Airmass RGB, ECMWF 300 hPa isotachs (yellow contours), Mean Sea Level Pressure (black contours)

The low pressure area brought heavy rain and wind, particularly in the southern part of the UK, for the bank holiday. The jet stream at upper levels of the troposphere, with winds up to 60 m/s, can be seen in the image. The transverse lines within the upper level clouds, at the maximum wind region, indicate a likelihood for clear air turbulence.
