Change to DCP messages from the Public DCP Service

The DCP Service header coding will be updated on 3 September 2018

Friday, 01 June 2018

The DCP Service header coding of DCP messages available from the Public DCP Service will be updated to increase the total number of Bytes of the DCP Service header from 86 to 88 Bytes. This update, planned for 03/09/2018, is to accommodate an increase in the 'SIZE OF DATA' field from 3 to 5 Bytes, which will allow the processing of HRDCP (High Rate DCP) messages up to the maximum size as per TD 16 - Meteosat Data Collection and Distribution Service (PDF, 1 MB).

The DCP messages processed after this date will still conform to the coding as described on the Data Collection System (DCS) web page under the section How to retrieve data via the internet.

In the meantime, the update has been implemented on our validation server which can be accessed at: from 04/06/2018.

This will allow users to retrieve updated DCP messages until 03/09/2018, at which time the access to our validation server will be disabled. Updated DCP messages will then be accessible via the operational Public DCP Service.
