Himawari-8 10-minute data to be available soon

Himawari-8 10-minute data will be available on EUMETCast Europe from 12 September.

The Himawari-8 data currently distributed on EUMETCast Europe (on the Basic Service) are Level-1c data from 14 channels of the Advanced Himawari Imager (AHI), at 2 km resolution, every 30 minutes.

From 12 September, Level-1c data from all 16 AHI channels, at 2 km resolution, will be available every 10 minutes. They will be distributed on EUMETCast Europe Transponder 1 High Volume Service (HVS-1):

The half-hourly Himawari-8 data will continue to be available until 10 October 2018. After that date, Himawari-8 data will only be available on HVS-1, every 10 minutes.

Users currently subscribed to the half-hourly Himawari-8 data will be given automatic access to the 10-minute data from 12 September, to give them time to adjust their systems, as needed. Please note that information on the required Tellicast client configuration changes can be found in the relevant EUMETCast Technical Bulletin (see Section C in particular)
