Two new RGB products have been added to our web visualisation service, EUMETView, today (15 Jan).
Tuesday, 15 January 2019
The new RGB products are:
- Natural Colour Enhanced (Figure 1): similar to a Natural Colour RGB product, but with ice-clouds and snow-covered surfaces, and clouds shown in white shades and not in the cyan colour typical of Natural Colour RGB, in order to make it more natural, as clouds would be seen by the human eye.
- Tropical Airmass (Figure 2): derivative of the existing Airmass RGB. The target is an improved detection of overshooting tops and cold, high-reaching clouds in the tropical regions.
As well as the new RGB products, enhancement to the grey-scale for the single IR channel 3.9 imagery has been implemented: a night/day filter to improve the perception for areas located on the night side of the globe.
Note: EUMETView is currently a pilot service.
