This user forum, held every two years in a different country in Africa, has proven to be an excellent opportunity for constructive exchanges between EUMETSAT and those in Africa who use our data. In 2026, the event will be held as follows:

10 - 11 June 2026: online technical sessions aimed at weather forecasters and climatologists using satellite data. It will discuss the new PUMA and ClimSA stations as well as the initial implementation of the AMSAF (African Meteorological Satellite Application Facility) in support to African Early Warning systems.

5 - 9 October 2026: plenary sessions which will take place in person in Manzini, Eswatini.

These are tailored for directors and executives in national meteorological and hydrological service and regional organisations. The discussion will revolve around the use of Meteosat Third Generation data, the establishment of the AMSAF and satellite's data contribution to Early Warning systems. It will also include a session dedicated to the EU-funded Global Gateway “Strengthening Early Warning in Africa” (SEWA) project, jointly implemented by EUMETSAT, ECWMF and the African Union Commission.

Participants at the Forum will also delve into the satellite's contribution to other priorities of the Integrated African Strategy on Meteorology and Agenda 2063, including agrometeorology, hydrology, air quality, and blue economy. About 150 participants from all African countries are expected to attend.

Attendance at the event is upon invitation only. More information is available on the event website here.
