Official opening of EUMETSAT’s LittleOrbiters childcare centre
The centre will cater for up to 44 children of EUMETSAT staff members
The finishing touches are still to be made, but EUMETSAT is delighted to announce the newest addition to its campus – the LittleOrbiters childcare centre for children of its staff.

Prof Dr-Ing Hans Moser from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport, Mr Uwe Becker from the State of Hesse’s Chancellery and Mr Björn Hörnle from TfK Kitas joined EUMETSAT Director-General Phil Evans to cut the ribbon, marking the delivery of this much-anticipated new facility.
“The pitter-patter of little feet adds a new dimension to our campus. This is a very proud moment for EUMETSAT,” Evans said.
“One of our strategic objectives at EUMETSAT is to remain an attractive employer for diverse, skilled, talented and engaged people.
“We know that finding quality childcare is a major concern for parents. EUMETSAT is committed to providing a supportive, inclusive work environment that helps staff members balance a demanding career with family life.”
Evans said EUMETSAT was grateful for the support it had received from the German Federal and Hessian Governments, as well as the city of Darmstadt, in bringing LittleOrbiters into existence.
The childcare centre will cater for EUMETSAT staff members’ children aged from four months until they are old enough to start school.
Evans thanked EUMETSAT’s 30 member states for agreeing to fund the centre. The centre will be operated by TfK Kitas.
