The 12th EUMETSAT User Forum in Africa opened today in Kigali, Rwanda, as the reference event in the dialogue with African user communities on the use of EUMETSAT satellite data for meteorology, climate monitoring and other applications.

After successful completion of in-orbit commissioning, ESA has handed over operations of the Copernicus Sentinel-3A satellite to EUMETSAT

Today, an important milestone has been passed in the commissioning of the US-European Jason-3 ocean-monitoring mission launched on 17 January 2016 with the release of the near-real time (NRT) Operational Geophysical Data Records (OGDR) and the non-time critical (NTC) Interim Geophysical Data Record (IGDR) to all users.

At its 85th session, the EUMETSAT Council endorsed a new strategy establishing the framework for EUMETSAT activities in the next decade.

EUMETSAT’s Director-General, Alain Ratier, and Jean-Yves Le Gall, President of CNES, signed a cooperation agreement on the ARGOS Data Collection System to be included in the payload of the Metop-SG satellites of the EUMETSAT Polar System of Second Generation (EPS-SG).

EUMETSAT, the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites, will celebrate its 30th anniversary on 27 June, with the participation of high level officials from its 30 Member States and the World Meteorological Organisation, the European Union, the European Space Agency and other international partners.

From 5 to 10 June 2016, EUMETSAT will be hosting the 44th plenary session of the Coordination Group for Meteorological Satellites (CGMS) in Biot, France.

At the fourth ‘European Space Solutions’ conference opening today in The Hague, Netherlands, under the Dutch EU Presidency, EUMETSAT and Mercator Ocean will host an event on 1 June on “Copernicus: Creating Value for our oceans”.
