On 22-26 September 2014, over 400 meteorological experts, scientists and researchers from 40 countries will converge on Geneva, Switzerland, for the 2014 EUMETSAT Meteorological Satellite Conference.

The 11th EUMETSAT User Forum in Africa takes place in Benoni, South Africa, on 8-12 September 2014, hosted by the South African Weather Service.

In the context of the Initial Joint Polar System it shares with the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), EUMETSAT has entered into a Space Situational Awareness data-sharing agreement with the US Strategic Command to protect its satellites against collision with space debris.

Between 13 and 17 October 2014, the Climate Symposium will address “Climate Research and Earth Observations from Space/Climate information for decision making”, bringing together over 500 global climate experts, policy makers and representatives from industry and international space agencies in Darmstadt, Germany.

The 80th meeting of the EUMETSAT Council took place on 1 July in Helsinki, Finland, upon invitation of the outgoing Chairman, Prof Petteri Taalas of Finland.

With Bulgaria joining as EUMETSAT Member State on 30 April, EUMETSAT has already achieved its goal to attain 30 Member States in the course of this year.
